Lullaby songs for children

Lullabies are the oldest songs most of us know, and nearly every culture has them. They tend to move slowly, repeat a short phrase, and sit low in the voice — all of which makes them easy to sing half-asleep and easy for a baby to settle into. Many are surprisingly melancholy, because they were sung as much to comfort the singer as the child.
